A recent Boston Globe article examined the mental health impacts of COVID-19 on Boston-area college students as colleges and universities prepare for the fast approaching fall semester. The article featured Northeastern University where the CONNECT@College platform, branded there as FIND@ Northeastern, has been supporting students since the fall of 2019.
The article focused on the shared concern of all schools for the expected rise in demand for mental health services, which were already at unprecedented levels before the pandemic. They cited Northeaster’s investment in student mental health as an example of how some forward-thinking institutions are responding.
Through their implementation of Find@Northeastern, a collaboration between Christie Campus Health and Northeastern University Health and Counseling Services students are benefitting from access to the full CONNECT@College platform, which includes a clinician-staffed 24/7 line, no cost access to local treatment options, video counseling sessions, online cognitive behavioral training, an educational content hub, and individualized navigation services to support referrals to community bases services and other supports.
Senior vice chancellor for student affairs at Northeastern, Madeleine Estabrook said, “Our goal this year is to make sure more and more people use it, and more and more people know about it.”
We are proud to partner with Northeastern to help them achieve this goal and continue to support their students as they return to campus this fall.
