Amaura is a licensed independent clinical social worker and spent fifteen years at Northeastern University working in college student wellness and prevention education. She started at Northeastern on an NIAAA grant to test innovative approaches for reducing high-risk college student substance use and subsequently established the Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern (OPEN), an evidence-based alcohol and other drug prevention program. The program grew to include sexual violence prevention and response as well as sexual health initiatives. Most recently, Amaura served as the Associate Dean for Wellness at Northeastern University overseeing health and mental health services as well as wellness and prevention education. Amaura is a national speaker and trainer, providing consultation to colleges and universities on research-based strategies to reduce high-risk college student substance use.
